About Us

This site is in a state of development, as all blogs are. As we post more of our analysis, we’ll expand the glossary to explain the new statistics we have invented as ways of rating players and teams both past and present. We also plan to include links both to sites of interest to the cricket fan and to articles published on the Web that contain information that we believe the Thoughtful Cricket Fan might like to know, as well as an ability for readers to post comments to the site.

Phil Austin is a lifelong cricket fan, who has just discovered baseball. He supports Kent and England in cricket, and the Montréal Expos and all overseas players who make the Major Leagues a real global sport in baseball.

Paul Brewer was born in Detroit, Michigan, and now lives in London, England. He is a lifelong baseball fan, and spent many years trying to figure cricket out until it all began to make sense during the 1999 World Cup and the following New Zealand tour of England. He’s been a Detroit Tigers fan since he attended his first baseball games in 1967 at old Tiger Stadium, and follows Hampshire County Cricket since that was the county where his mother was born. His favorite current cricket player is Stephen Fleming.
